Metinvest is building its Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) management system based on the best international practices.
In 2008, aiming at further improvement of the Company’s operations the Headquarters set up the HSE Directorate and adopted the «HSE Strategy for the period of 2008 – 2011» (hereinafter: the Strategy). As a next step, the Company’s HSE Policy and Principles were adopted in 2009.
The HSE Committee of the Supervisory Board was launched in 2009. The Committee’s main goal is to render support to the Company Senior Management in implementation of the highest HSE, standards throughout the Group.
The HSE Committee is responsible for the key areas:
- Development of HSE Strategy of the Company;
- Implementation of HSE Strategy;
- HSE reporting and benchmarking;
- Investigation of fatalities and other industrial accidents, site visits.
Within the framework of the strategic priority objectives, the Company Headquarters has developed and implemented the Integrated HSE management system based on the best world practices. The management system passed the audit for compliance with the international standards OHSAS 18001 and ISO 14001 in November 2009.
