Nowadays Yenakievo Steel Group unites two companies with full metallurgical production cycle – Yenakievo Iron and Steel Works and JV Metalen.
The companies of the Group produce concast and rolled square billets, sections and structurals of carbon, low-carbon and low alloyed steel grades according in accordance with the international standards.
During last several years Yenakievo Steel having completed a number of large development project became a large and noticeable player on Ukrainian steel products market and took its position of a significant global supplier of merchant billet. In 2002 the company constructed and commissioned the first ladle-furnace unit and a billet continuous casting machine with the second ladle-furnace and another conticaster to have come on stream in 2 years – 2004.
In 2007 the company completed the construction of a new blast furnace No. 5 with capacity of 1513 cu meters. The commissioning of BF No.5 in line with the new air separating unit and an turbo blower came on stream in the same year will help Yenakievo Steel to increase crude steel production to 3,5 mmtpy with further raising of the steel production capacity up to 4 mmtpy.
Every project the company implements is comforming to up-to-date standards of environmetal safety. With the new consticasters operating now at Yenakievo Steel the company not only susseeded in developing the new products manufacturing but also achieved a significant dicrease in energy consumprion rates and atmospheric emmissions.
The total quantity of personnel of the company is about 9 thousand people.
Historical notice
The company was established in 1985 by Russian-Belgium metallurgical society as Petrovskiy Iron and Steel Works that was renamed in a time to Yenakievo Iron and Steel Works. In 1897 the first pig iron was produced at the works.
In 1999 Metalen was establish as a joint-venture between Yenakievo Iron and Steel Works and Swiss-based steel trader Leman Commodities (Leman Commodities is a part of Sales Service of Steel and rolled products division of METINVEST HOLDING with its name changed to Metinvest International S.A.)
Since 2006 Yenakievo Steel has been a part on Metinvest Group.
