Severniy GOK
Northern mining and processing integrated plant (Severniy GOK) is one of the largest integrated iron ore raw materials producers in Europe. 
 
The company specializes is the iron ore mining and production of steelmaking raw materials – iron ore concentrate and pellets. The company sources iron ore from the deposits of ferruginous quartzite of Annovskiy and Pervomayskiy pits recoverable reserves of which constitute 630 Mt and 450 Mt of raw iron ore respectively.
 

The main production facilities of the company comprise (including the mentioned ore pits and the mine) ore dressing factory No. 1, three pelletizing factories and three ore crushing factories.

In autumn 2006 the new (one of existing now) ore crushing factory No.3 came on stream. With the commissioning of this facility the ore mining in Petrovskiy pit utilizes the cyclical conveyer technology of transportation of ore from the pit to processing units. This was the most substantial project as per the scale in mining industry of Ukraine.

During the 2003-2007 Severniy GOK has reached the highest production level for the last 10 years and is demonstrating the highest production growth rate among the competitors in Ukraine and CIS.

The company employs about 12 thousand people.

Historical notice
 

Severniy GOK started operating in 1963 with mining works in Petrovskiy pit commenced in 1961.

Since the pellets production had started in 1974 the overall designed capacity of the company amounted to 48.5 mmtpy of raw iron ore, 20.47 mmtpy of iron ore concentrate and 16.3 mmtpy of pellets.

The highest production level was reached in 1974 and exceeded 15 Mt of concentrate and 14.5 Mt of pellets. 

Production capacity

The actual production capacity of the company is about 13.4 mmtpy of iron ore concentrate, over 11 mmtpy of pellets. The joint capacity of iron ore pits reaches 30 mmtpy of raw iron ore.
