Ecology

Iron ore division of METINVEST HOLDING unites the leading Ukrainian ore mining and processing enterprises which incorporate the integrated raw materials production cycle from iron ore, limestone and dolomites mining to their further processing and producing high quality raw materials for steelmaking and some other industries.

Large scale projects are being carried at the companies of the Division aimed towards the reduction of the negative impact of the production the environment may be is exposed to.

The major directions of environment protecting activities include but are not limited with:

• Atmosphere protection and reduction of green house gases emissions
  use of modern gas-cleaning and dust trapping equipment at processing and roasting plants, constant control and monitoring of air conditions on the boundaries of buffer areas of the plants, introduction of up-to-date energy saving technologies, reduction of emission of contaminating harmful substances during blast works in the pore pits by utilizing ecologically clean explosives.
• Water basin protection
  Use of closed technological cycle preventing water pollution with highly mineralized technical waters.
• Industrial wastes recycling and recovery
  including reprocessing of beneficiation and production wastes.
• Land reclamation and recultivation
  technical and biological resoiling of dumps and waste lands.
